Traces: Vang is a collection of ceramic pieces crafted in porcelain and minerals found at the Vang quarry on Bornholm-Denmark. Traces of the minerals imprinted on porcelain bodies and traces of the makers’ hands not only convey a sense of belonging and identity but also add a characteristic ceramic expression to these hand-torn pieces.
Jessica Rios Gómez was born in Neiva (Colombia) in 1978 and is a Colombian-British ceramic artist, who now resides in Denmark. Following a career in computer science and digital marketing, it was a random encounter with the handmade, and a newfound passion for crafts that led Jessica, now in her thirties, on her way to a new career in ceramics. In 2020 she graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts on Bornholm, Denmark.
She echoes today the traditional handmade ceramic techniques and the contemporary dialogues between crafts, design and experimental matters.
