At the workshop, we follow in the footsteps of ceramicist Marlene Hartmann Rasmussen and model animals out of clay. The workshop is based on works from this year's special exhibition at Hjorths Fabrik, "Fieldwork – in Gertrud Kudielkas' 'Footsteps'," where the ceramic artist Malene Hartmann Rasmussen displays hand-modeled animals. When Marlene created the works, she would daily drive to Melstedgård, where she used the stables and pastures with the farm's animals as inspiration for her animal figures.
The workshop starts at Hjorths Fabrik, where we first look at works and figures of animals, discuss them, their expressions, and the techniques that Malene and Gertrud have used in their work. Then we drive to Melstedgård, where everyone has the opportunity, like Malene did, to model animals in clay after live models in the stables at Melstedgård. There are pigs, sheep, goats, and cats.
Along the way, there will be expert guidance from Hjorths Fabrik's ceramicist. All works will be fired and can be picked up afterwards at Hjorths Fabrik.
The course is for children aged 12 and up. There are 15 spots available, and you can sign up via email: Kas@bornholmsmuseum.dk.
The course, including transportation to and from Hjorths Fabrik, is free.
Please bring a packed lunch and a water bottle.
