In this special exhibition at FORMA Crafts, we present the results of a wood-fired collaborative project with local ceramicists and students from the Royal Danish Academy, Bornholm.
The project promotes mutual knowledge exchange between up-and-coming artisans and the established community. At the exhibition, we unfold our endeavour to let the creation process form a link in professional fellowship and immersion.
Woodfiring is an ancient technique in ceramic production - burning wood, creating energy and trying to control it - it's a slow process that requires knowledge of the materials involved. Clay and raw materials are transformed into ceramics and, in combination with heat and ash, form a glaze. The position of the objects in the kiln and the firing process, effects the artistic expression.
Through clay particles, fire and shared experiences, the exhibition draws on the collective accumulated knowledge of the past and creates new works for the future.
